At election time, protect family choice

Engage your school community in the School Choice Counts campaign

Protecting choice – Independent schools and the federal election

All Australians have a stake in the outcome of the federal election.

For families who educate their children in an Independent school, a key issue is to protect their right to choose, regardless of which party forms government after the May 3 election.

Every student in every school – government, Independent or Catholic – deserves fair treatment, including in government funding.

The major political parties have recognized and supported this for decades.

Yet this support will be challenged by ill-informed critics during the election campaign, jeopardising choice for families from all walks of life.

That’s why we’re supporting the School Choice Counts campaign.

How you can help protect your child’s education

With the federal election now officially called for May 3, we are supporting the School Choice Counts campaign. We believe this election, families who choose Independent schools need to know that their choice is being challenged — and that their voices matter.

Below, you can find the campaign toolkit and, now with the election underway, we’re asking you to take the step of sending this to your families and wider school community.

To help spread the message, send the toolkit to your school families, encouraging them to take part in the campaign, use the campaign content in newsletters, on social media, and in school communications and help your community understand what’s at stake — and how they can help protect school choice.
