Schools Upgrade Fund

Grant applications now open until Friday 24 February 2023

The Australian Government is providing grants of up to $25,000 per school to help improve ventilation and air quality and assist with other much needed improvements to school facilities.

The purpose of the Fund is to provide more equitable access to resources to support schools in keeping students and school staff safe, and further support the education of students after disruptions caused by COVID-19.

Examples of eligible projects include:

  • the purchase of air purifiers
  • upgrading ventilation systems
  • building or upgrading outdoor learning spaces
  • upgrading ICT equipment
  • maintaining classrooms and more.

All schools are eligible to apply for one grant of up to $25,000 which may be applied to one project or multiple projects across one or more campuses.  Note that schools may only apply for one grant, regardless of the number of campuses.

Applications are now open and will close 11.59 pm AEDT on Friday 24 February 2023.

The Fund is being administered directly by the Australian Government. All applications should be made via the Department’s online application form via the link below.

Before submitting an application, schools are advised to carefully read the Department’s Schools Upgrade Fund Guidelines, available below.

Successful schools will be notified in May, with funding to be provided in June 2023.
